So I've long enjoyed creating characters inspired by concepts I've found through randomly generators. And while checking out Shawnie's Mary Sue test site, I found some random character generators. And I've found one I quite like.
This one.
It gives a list of the character's race, gender, age, occupation, likes, dislikes, best skill, worst skill, and personality.
Now, just writing around a randomly generated character can be fun, but I think its a lot more fun when you further develop the character yourself.
So I thought it'd be really cool (and a good exercise in character development) to try and take these randomly generated character skeletons and turn them into real characters.
You don't have to use the first one you get, because I know some of them are a bit out there. But try to pick one you can have some fun with!
Here's the one I'm working on:
Race: android
Gender: male
Age: adolescent
Occupation: pirate
Likes: hunting, rock-climbing, and birds
Dislikes: running, mathematics, and dancing
Best skill: telling when someone is telling the truth
Worst skill: mechanics
Personality: playful, very patient, not very sharing
What I have so far (general idea):
And, if anyone would like to try roleplaying these characters, let me know! It'd be quite fun. ^^ Or if you use them for some writing, let me know! It'd be neat to see them used in some real work!

What I have so far (general idea):
Shearwater is an android on a sky pirate ship. He was bought by the captain to help defend the ship, but he is designed for less hands-on work. He has very accurate sensors that he monitors those around him with, and has found it easy to tell who is lying. He has a fascination with heights, and so enjoys being a sky pirate. He likes to climb, so he spends a lot of time in the crow’s nest. He also quite likes birds, so he likes to be in the sky amongst them and likes the idea of being in a “nest” like them. He’s very good at hunting for and finding things. He doesn’t understand death, and so will go hunting and kill things without understanding what he’s doing. He likes animals, particularly the birds, and doesn’t understand why they’re so different after he’s “caught” them. He’s a bit lazy, and dislikes running around, partly because of the wear and tear it puts on him. He has no idea how to fix himself (though he’ll try), but refuses to let anyone else give it a go. He’s very childlike and patient.
