Is your character a Mary Sue/Gary Stu?An artist I follow on DeviantArt recently posted the above link to this site with one of his comics. It's a lot of questions (particularly the first section) but pretty helpful. It'll help you to determine whether your character is a Mary Sue/Gary Stu, is in danger of being a Mary Sue/Gary Stu, or could use some spicing up to make he or she interesting. Also, the artist posted these as examples of some pitfalls for comic artists, but I find that they also apply to writing stories: RantingStraw Man (May help with arguments between characters or even an essay) Gary Stu/Wish FulfillmentStereotypes for Female Characters

...I am seriously depressed right now. No kidding. I just got a 63 on that test with one of my fanfiction characters, Sett. I feel like an idiot. I don't want to make excuses or anything, but no test is perfect for figuring out Sue characters, especially because a simple test can't take the whole storyline into account, regardless of it being a fanfic or not. However...

It's just an account to follow artists I like. ^^; I don't actually do any art. I just know I'll forget to check certain artists and fall behind on everything if I didn't have the account.
And it's actually easy to get a high score if you have a character that is "interesting." I got a 16 on a RP character that I'm currently using, but she's like a timid and normal person (nothing special). The main thing that got her was physical and sexual abuse on that test.

Got a 21 for Rhodes, an OC for a graphic novel series I'm working on. (And I have a DA! Though I don't post on it much. ^^;; ) Going to test more characters, will edit with scores. EDIT1: Got a 26 for Jandro, another OC from the same series. Which is a surprise...he's mostly average and I kind of hate him. ^^;;

I got a 94 for a main character of my book I've been writing since I was in 4th grade. Not good.

I got a 20, hazza. I consider this character to be nearly perfect in the rankings. Although I did have to go back and revise a few things which I had questioned when answering. I originally had a 9...too low.

I got a 28 for my character Mira. Honestly, while I was reading some of these questions, I got a few cool ideas for stuff to happen, If I get it more off the ground, maybe I can lower that score.
